Death Valley

Death Valley National Park encompasses nearly 3.4 million acres of the Mojave Desert straddling the California-Nevada border — the largest national park in the contiguous United States. Badwater Basin, at 282 feet below sea level, is the lowest point in North America, yet the park contains peaks rising above 11,000 feet. Zabriskie Point's eroded badlands glow amber at dawn, the Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes shift in sinuous waves, and the salt flats at Badwater stretch to the horizon in blinding white. It is a landscape of brutal extremes and extraordinary, austere beauty.
