Zion

Sheer sandstone walls rising from Utah's Virgin River canyon

Utah's first national park offers some of the most dramatic canyon scenery in North America. Sheer sandstone walls in hues of cream and vermillion tower over the Virgin River as it carves its way through Zion Canyon. The Narrows — a slot canyon barely wider than a river — and the vertiginous Angels Landing define the park's iconic silhouettes against a narrow band of blue sky.
